Automatic curtains from the innovative Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi are part of the Aqara smart home system.
The Aqara Smart Curtain Motor is used to control curtains wirelessly. The motor works on the Zigbee wireless protocol. The drive uses ZigBee low power protocol through Mi smart home multi-functional gateway or Aqara protocol to connect to the smart home network. Thus, smart electric curtains can be controlled through the Mi App. In addition, the electric cornice allows you to set a timer in the Mi app when the curtains should open or close. Xiaomi electric curtain rod supports voice control thanks to the XIaomi XiaoAI system.
As an alternative to smart home control, the Xiaomi Electric Curtain Pole has the option of using a wireless switch that can be used to open or close the curtains with a simple push of a button.
The curtain motor can also be paired with the home Mi-sensor, which will allow the curtains to open when a person approaches the window and close the curtains when a person moves away from the window. Further, the Aqara curtain motor has the function of starting from a slight movement of the curtain by hand. The motor stops when it feels any resistance or obstruction during the opening and closing of the curtains. The electric drive has a low noise level, up to 30 dB.

Scenarios can control smart curtains not only directly from the Mi Home app. An example of a simple scenario: connect a control button to the gateway and configure the curtain control with its help. Different clicks on the button are responsible for different commands.
Short press (single click) closes the curtain, long press (long press) opens the curtain, double click (double click) controls the light in the bedroom.
It is possible to create more complex scenarios, specify additional conditions.
For example:
open the curtain if the front door is opened between 9:00 and 18:00; open the curtain if there are people in the room and the light level is below the specified level. Please note: the curtain itself is not equipped with any sensors. If you want to use complex scenarios, you will need to separately purchase and install sensors in the right places, and after that, through them, configure the curtain control scenario in the Mi Home application.
